About Merrie England - Oakes | Drive In

If you’re cruising along New Hey Road and fancy a relaxed stop that feels both familiar and full of character, let me introduce you to Merrie England - Oakes | Drive In Restaurant. Tucked away in Oakes, Huddersfield HD3 4BU, this spot has the easygoing vibe of a classic coffee shop while keeping the convenience of a true drive-in. It’s the kind of place you notice once, then suddenly find yourself coming back to without overthinking it, especially when you want something quick, comforting, and reliable.

What really stands out about Merrie England - Oakes | Drive In is how effortlessly it fits into everyday life. You can swing by in your car and use the drive-through when time is tight, or opt for takeaway if you’re heading somewhere nearby. On calmer days, on-site services and dine-in options make it feel less rushed, more like a casual hangout where coffee is the main event. Delivery is also available, which works perfectly when you want that familiar cup without stepping out.

Speaking of coffee, it’s very much at the heart of the experience here. Whether you’re popping in for a morning caffeine boost or grabbing an afternoon pick-me-up, the coffee offerings are simple, approachable, and satisfying. Alongside that, there are quick bites and small plates that pair well with a drink, making it easy to turn a short stop into a proper refuel. The food isn’t trying to be complicated; instead, it leans into comfort and convenience, which feels refreshing.

From the perspective of someone introducing this place, I’d say Merrie England - Oakes | Drive In feels like a local constant. It suits commuters, coffee lovers, and anyone who appreciates straightforward service with a friendly, no-fuss atmosphere. The balance between speed and comfort is what makes it work so well, especially in a busy part of Huddersfield where good coffee on the go can make all the difference.

A local legend. One I as a Lancastrian had never heard of. Very oldie worldie decor. Food was good, drink, coffee was OK. Liked it.

Always love coming here for a lunch time treat. A lot more staff on today when I popped in with my mum at 11:30 Monday when the kids had returned to school so the wait for my chicken sandwich wasn't very long today. Coffee and food is still good . Thank you

Great local coffee house! Ide advice anyone going there to try there turkey club! Melt in your mouth cold sliced turkey ontop of a whole lettuce leaf, blanketed under warm bacon.. with a homemade mushroom soup to wash it down.
